Informed Choice in the Childbirth Education Classroom

Track: Data/Research on the Value of Childbirth Education

Session Number: 1028
Date: Fri, Apr 12th, 2019
Time: 2:15 PM - 2:30 PM

Description:

Many educators and healthcare providers (especially those of us working within a hospital system) may be unaware of what true informed consent means. As childbirth educators, we have an ethical responsibility to teach our parents to demand informed consent before every single procedure. We have to be critical thinkers when looking at our curriculum and evaluate what message we are sending to parents.
