Description:

As yoga and mindfulness/meditation has grown in popularity, so has the opportunity to teach these skills to pregnant people and their support persons. Come learn the why and how of prenatal yoga asana (poses) and pranayama (breath). You can then share these skills with your childbirth class participants. The techniques you will learn can help your students relieve pregnancy discomforts, achieve optimal fetal positioning, and relax and breathe their way through labor to a have a safe and healthy birth experience.
Session Type: 45-minute hands-on learning zone

Learning Objective(s): 1. Understand the rationale for teaching yoga asana (poses) and pranayama (breathing) in childbirth classes.
2. Learn 3-5 yoga poses and breathing techniques that can help relieve pregnancy discomforts, optimize fetal positioning, enhance relaxation, and help ensure safe, healthy birth outcomes.
